Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals in Penarth are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pick-up. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations for the rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will take priority.
Eligibility Criteria in Penarth
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Penarth, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees for those under 25. A valid, full driving license specific to the vehicle category is required, held for the duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Renters must present valid identification and proof of current residence, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional criteria may apply as stated in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Penarth location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required upon collection of the vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, a comprehensive inspection is required to identify any pre-existing damage. It is important to report any findings immediately. A vehicle condition report will be completed and both parties will sign it. Please return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, with allowances for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charges will be applied accordingly. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at the start of your rental; refueling fees will apply if the tank is not adequately filled. Late returns may incur extra charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if you expect a delay. You remain responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during the rental, in addition to an administrative fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All car rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You will find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts in the Rental Agreement. There may be options for additional insurance to minimize your financial liability, which we encourage you to review thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless you have opted for extra coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms falls under your responsibility, regardless of your insurance status.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on your chosen booking type and the notice period provided. Please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement for precise information. Late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited uses of the rental vehicle:
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any dangerous driving practices. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Use the vehicle only for its intended purposes, and adhere to passenger and weight limits. Travel outside the specified geographical boundaries without prior permission is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Penarth will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the prior 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Local Jurisdiction
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the courts in these regions.
Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to change these Terms at any time. Updates take effect immediately upon publication on our website. Continuing to use our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
